READING: Children will take home a reading book every day. Free readers will choose books from the library and children following the reading scheme will choose a suitable staged book, as well as a library book. We aim to encourage the children to be independent and  foster a real love of reading. The Reading Record is a tool for your child to record their progress through a book and needs to come to school every day; please sign it when you hear or observe your child reading. The Class Teacher or TA will sign the book at least once a week. Please continue to listen to your child read and question them afterwards, even if they are free   readers, as reading aloud to an audience is beneficial. Remember, the more books read, the more points earned on the reading road!

SPELLING: Children will use the school Rainbow Spelling cards to learn spellings suited to their own ability. They will have a short test as they complete each colour level and receive a certificate if they are successful. They can use their Spelling book at home and at school to use the Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check method.

MATHS: A piece of number work or problem solving will be set online each Wednesday for the following Tuesday. The ‘MyMaths’ site also contains many practice activities to complement the set task. Don’t forget to keep practising those times tables to x12 ready for Times Table Olympics each Friday!

ENGLISH/CROSS-CURRICULAR: Children can choose a task on the   Homework Wheel each week. Homework books will be given out on the Wednesday and the task will be due in on Monday.

Important Reminders:
Please ensure your child arrives before 8:50 am
Please ensure named swimming and PE kits are in school.
Please remember to leave a message on the absence line if your child is not well enough to come to school.
Please remember to send in a healthy snack for break as all of our learning makes us peckish! A piece of fruit is ideal.
FINAL PLEA – if you have an old adult shirt, please send in for art overalls.
